Dents and scratches pulled from a black 2014 Ford Focus

A black 2014 Ford Focus came in with dents and scratches along the driver's side. Black paint hides nothing, so the panel had to read flat under reflection.

Before After

This Focus came in shortly after its owner bought it used, with dents and scratches running along the driver's side. One sat just below the door handle. The owner needed the car back quickly, so it was booked in to keep it off the road for as little time as possible.

Black is the hardest color to hide a dent in. Look at the before photos and the damage shows up as a ripple in the reflection well before you can see the dent itself. That is also the standard the repair has to meet. The panel is not finished when it feels flat under your hand, it is finished when the reflection runs straight along the body line.

The panels were worked back to contour until that reflection ran clean. The after photos are taken from both ends of the car on purpose. Walking the length of the side and watching the highlight travel along it is the quickest way to judge a repair like this from a few feet away.
